Joshua 1:8

Joshua 1:8 NKJV - This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

A dear mother friend of mine, Linda Jones, has always given me good mom advice. When I had my first child she told me to write down what she says. Because although you think you'll remember the adorable things they say, you'll probably forget.

Adorable things like when Malayna was 2, she told me she loved me all the way to the top of Mt. Sinai. Or when Jayden was 2, he laid his hand on my head & said "Thank you Jesus for mommy's head. Amen!" Thankfully I took her advice & I wrote them down. And I enjoy reading them. And I am still writing down what they say.

So just recently I was talking to her about how difficult it is to figure out how Jayden, age 3, learns. She told me to read Joshua 1:8 .... for then you will be prosperous, and then will have success. So I read the whole verse & got what she was saying. That even if he isn't ready to know ALL his letters of the alphabet I can still have him memorize the Scripture.

About a week later I saw that my friend Shirley posted a video of her 3 & 2 year old quoting Psalm 23. I was convicted! I knew my children could memorize Scripture. I just had not done my part! So over the next few weeks, whether we learned letters, sounds, shapes or not.....we learned a verse a week! We are on verse 4 of Psalm 23 (NKJV) and they know it SO well! There are a total of 6 verses so in 2 weeks I will post a video of them quoting it!

So - here is a challenge to all you moms. Stay at home mom or not, homeschooling mom or not......teach your children the Scripture!

THEY are your mission field! Their salvation depends on YOU!

then when they have the Scripture in them - they WILL be prosperous, the WILL be successful!

Pay It Forward 2011 Challenge

On FB I took the 2011 Pay It Forward Challenge that my cousin had posted.

What is it you ask? Well, I posted as my status "..... the first 3 people who comment I will mail a handmade/homemade item in 2011 & you must take the challenge & do it in return"

So I was thinking - this is EASY. I'll have people comment that have little girls & I can make hair bows for them. Or someone who likes purses & I'll give them one of my handmade clutch purses.

Well to my dismay - the 1st person to comment - Tracy - she has a little girl but is SO far ahead of me in the creative world! I learn things from her! and I want to be like her when I grow up! :)

2nd person to comment - Mandy - my wonderful little sister. She does not have a little girl, and she does not like carrying a purse! Psh!!!!

3rd person to comment - Mary - a friend that does not have a little girl & probably wouldn't benefit from my purses :) although her college aged daughter said a hairbow would be nice - but this is for Mary :)

Sooooo at first I was bummed. I was thinking - this was gonna be so simple! I had it all figured out in my head....now I have to actually think about something special to make!!! And then I realized it was called a CHALLENGE! So I embraced the challenge.....I have a little idea of what to send these friends of mine....but I really want to make it special! I am hoping to have it to them by March if not sooner. But watch out Tracy, Mandy & Mary.....it'll have alot of thought put into it!!! :)

Take the Challenge - Pay It Forward!!!

Patience

My patience is definitely being tried by the loves of my life - my chlidren!

Jayden (3) does NOT want to learn. He does not like homeschooling. I try to do things that would be on his level, but he does not want to learn. He cannot see the bigger picture of anything. If I tell him he can't do something now - he gets mad & says "I'll never do....." WOW!!! what a challenge! Sad to admit - I do not remain calm all the time. I'm trying.....but he is wearing me out!!!

Mayci, (8 mo) - is totally attached to me. My husband mentions how her umbilical cord is still attached! I cannot leave the room for any length of time before she starts to cry her head off. I do remain calm with her. Since she will be my last baby - I may have had something to do with her attachment. But during the day, doing homeschool & housework makes it nearly impossible. Then when they are all asleep I want ME time - not housework time :(

So this was not a very exciting blog - but it felt good to write. So thank you for reading.

Any suggestions for my 3 year old are welcome!

next week should be more encouraging - I promise!

A Baby Changes Everything

I posted this on FB the week of Christmas.....but I really like it so it's my first official blog of the week (yesterday was just an introduction :)

A Baby Changes Everything • I love this Christmas song. As I am so thankful for the fact that God manifested Himself in flesh & saved us from our sins. I also reflect on this song as a mother.

A baby changes EVERYTHING! Our sleep habits change • the phrase "sleep like a baby" has a whole different meaning to mothers. Our eating habits change • you eat when you can, if you can! Our driving changes • we aren't as reckless. Our body changes! • things expand & sometimes don't get back the way they were! Our hair color changes • or lack thereof. Our eyes change • they're in the back of our head now as well. Our mouth changes • you start watching what you say!

But then our outlook on life changes! We start noticing the little things. Like instead of being frustrated a train crossing is making you late, you look through the eyes of a toddler & count the train cars. You make more time for hugs & kisses then you do for folding laundry. The dandelions are much prettier when picked by your little girl.

So a baby changes EVERYTHING! It may not be all the things we look forward to but when we look back we wouldn't change a THING!!!!!

New Year's Resolution

So.... 2011 will be the year I jumped on the bandwagon & blogged! Every year when everyone is making their new year's resolution, you know the ones that they won't keep for more then a month? I make resolutions that I WILL keep!

One year - to hug more.....I used to be the person that couldn't stand hugs.... so I decided to give more hugs! I kept my resolution AND now I hug people more & I don't mind being hugged!!

Another year - to wear my watches..... I have 5......ok, 15 watches & I would just buy them, but never wear them. So, I kept that resolution! I wore watches every day to match my outfit! yay me!

So - 2011 is the year I blog, hopefully once a week, but maybe once a month.

ALOT of my blogs will be about my kids & about being a mother, because that is what I'm truly passionate about!

So I look forward to blogging & I look forward to lots of comments :)
