Lost Pacifier #264

So at the beginning of January we had two pacifiers (we call them "paci") for our little one. Within a week I could not find either! Come bed time and no paci. I wanted to go to the store right then but my husband said "Nope, let's just let that be the end of them"

Well that's all fine a dandy for one night.... but nap time??? when she gets too loud??? when she just wants to be soothed??? Was I ready for my 20 month old to grow up? My last baby?
I wasn't emotionally ready!

I recently heard a new mother say that there should be tracking devices on pacifiers. I totally agree! Over the course of our 3 children, pacifiers have shown up in my sisters' suitcase (when she was in CA and we were in VA). They have been hidden in toy boxes & all sorts of places in the toy room. Behind my parents' entertainment center. In my mom's purse. In my dad's pocket (my parents live a couple hours away, the lost pacifiers were found after we were already home of course).

So then I began to ask myself if I find one of the lost paci's - do I give it to her??? or do I throw away the last thing that ties her to babyhood (ok, not really....but I'm emotional, ok!) So one week ago - I found a paci in my purse! A place I had looked thoroughly!!!! I was SO tempted to give it to her, hold her in my arms and rock her.... But I didn't. I hid it. :(

That's the end....no more paci's in this house. Mayci has adjusted better than I have.

  1. I'm pretty sure your hubby should develop and iphone app for tracking those things! So sad thinking of little M being so big... it means mine isn't that far behind! :o(

  2. Daniel still has his "pap-pap"...I totally understand the need for mommy to be ready to get rid of them. I seriously took a picture of River and Daylie the last time they used theirs and I can remember wanting to cry too! Sweet post Michelle!!

  3. Zach was a paci baby, but Gracie never would take one. Ever. The last picture I have of Zach with a paci was the day after we brought Gracie home from the hospital. About a week later I realized he hadn't had one, because he never lost his - he kept track of his own! Turns out he was throwing them away. That was kinda nice. I hope this baby takes a paci because SANITY!!!
